Canadian May 4wd tractors up 46%, combines down 19%

According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers’ monthly “Flash Report,” the sales of all tractors in Canada for May 2018 were even with last year.

For the year, a total of 9,697 tractors were sold, which compares to 9,410 sold through May 2017.

For the month, two-wheel-drive smaller tractor (under 40 HP) were down 1% from last year, and 40 & under 100 HP were down 6%. Sales of two-wheel-drive 100+ HP were up 9% from last year, and four-wheel-drive tractors were up 46% for the month.

For the year, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) were up 2% from last year, while 40 & under 100 HP were even. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP are up 14%, while 4-wheel drive tractors were even for the year.

Combine sales were down 19% for the month. Sales of combines for the year totaled 595, a decrease of 9% over the same period in 2017.
